Dumpster Hill App Developer Development Log

Dumpster Hill Dev Log

Sep 28, 2026: Aggronav is live on the Google Play Store. It's a fun little app and all internal testing went well. Added some small animations to make the 'mark your spot' a little more obvious. Thank you for checking it out!

Sep 27, 2026: Started work on a simple remote control for Samsung smart TVs called Mr. Channel Changer (I know right!). My remote has spent its entire life either lost in the couch or in the hands of someone who isn't me, so I made this my new project. Should go into internal test group in a few weeks and launch shortly thereafter.

Sep 19, 2026: AggroNav is currently in testing. It has 8 personalities, each with its own voice responses and directional pointers. It’s a fun little project and should be ready for production in a few weeks. The main issue is that poor GPS reception can cause your phone to pass an inaccurate starting location to the app. When that happens, the app becomes a confident little liar and will happily send you the wrong way. I’ve had several return trips that took me right back to the exact starting point from miles away, because the GPS status was green both when I marked the location and on the way back. To help set expectations, I added a GPS status indicator at the top of the app. Green status is good! Red means you might make it back…or you might end up 300 feet away, shaking your fist at me.

Sep 11, 2026: DH Record is live on the Google Play Store. Currently working on a fun project using GPS to mark a location so you can return to it. It's not the typical 'Dude, where's my car?' app. It's gonna be a little passive aggressive.

Sep 6, 2026: DH Reader is live on the Google Play Store. Continuing work on DH Record which starts recording immediately and will apply a timestamp and maybe even lat/long (still thinking) to your video in case you need to use it for evidence; think car accidents etc. But mainly is just starts recording as soon as you tap the app icon. Obviously I'm not very creative when it comes to naming apps. Two DH apps in a row LOL.

Sep 2, 2026: DH Reader is in the internal test track. Should be live this week if all testing goes well. A few issues with some website structures, but trying to nail those down as I run into them. I gave up trying to find a cool app name. As usual they are all taken, lol. So we're going with DH Reader. Wiring up the revcat portion which is easy, but my least favorite thign to do. But it literally pays the bills, so there's that.

Aug 27, 2026: Added some cool features to the text-only reader to include the Open English WordNet dictionary definitions for user-selected words. TTS now auto-scrolls the article and you can tap any paragraph to have it read. Added a more granular playback speed selection from .75x to 2x.

Aug 20, 2026: Started initial testing the text-only reader that converts webpages, articles, blog posts etc into a text-only files that can be saved locally. It allows for Text-To-Speech, supports dyslexia fonts, focus mode etc. Still in-progress. Beta should go up in a week or two. Still no idea what to call it.

Aug 18, 2026: Back to work. Updated Mr. Boopers to streamline background image swaps, and updated all the software that makes it compliant with Google Play requirements. Still looking at the interface. It's very functional but I think I can do better in the next release. Mr. Boopers demands UI/UX perfection.

Aug 2, 2026: Taking two weeks off to visit parents. Been a while.

July 27, 2026: Updates made for Listmucho! and Mr. Boopers. Updated myipstats.com website to trim some of the fat to make the Google bots happy.

July 26, 2026: Send Reels is live on the Google Play Store. Starting the planning for a text-only reader. Need ideas for a name. All the good ones are always taken lol.

May 19, 2026: Send Reels is in the internal test track.

May 17, 2026: Mr. Boopers HQ Audio Recorder is live on the Google Play Store.

May 6, 2026: ListMucho! v1.0.0 is live on the Google Play Store. Submitted v1.0.1 patch for review. This fixes a very intermittent race condition on first use that could cause the app to close while booting.

May 5, 2026: Fixed some of the headers in myipstats.com that were wrapping on mobile. Working on global css changes to standardize header text size.

May 2, 2026: Fixed html validation issues and added better schemas to all sites under the Dumpster Hill umbrella.

April 30, 2026: Added devlog to DH website to track app issues, status and new app info.
